I used to be an avid Twitter user, and by that I mean I had Twitter from grade 7 to 12 and used it like no tomorrow. I was always tweeting live from my phone, using the app all night long to look at funny tweets and using it as a way to communicate with my friends. Post high school I didn’t use twitter one in the last 3 years, and a LOT has changed.
The first change when signing up for a new account other than the general layout is Twitter actually asked me about Personalized Ads and Tracking my internet usage! I always wondered how websites had such personal to me ads but only started to learn why as of today. I actually had the option to tell Twitter that no, I do not want them to combine my Twitter activity with other online activity to personalize my advertisement. How creepy and interesting how interconnected all of these social media websites are. From now on I might actually look at my privacy settings!
Another thing I noticed that has changed on Twitter is it has a bunch more features to make your Twitter time easier. Things like being able to bookmark accounts and trending hash-tags, being able to have multiple Twitter accounts and just with the click of a button switch between them! And so many more features which I have yet to explore including Tweet Deck. I look forward to becoming familiar with these functions to use Twitter as a tool in my teaching path!
